The Island
Undergoing total reconstruction and due to re-open for 2009 under its
new name, Velassaru (formerly Laguna Maldives) promises to be a superb
resort, under the professional Universal management, with stylish
facilities and elegant accommodation on a beautiful island.
This small, well established island is situated at the northern tip of
the South Male Atoll about 30 minutes by boat from Male International
Airport.
The beach wraps the island in a soft cocoon of sand - a leisurely stroll
for the devoted beachcomber and a blissful setting for romantic moments.
The blue and gold of the horizon, the shades of green touching the
lagoon, lend spectacular color to this tropical hideaway. A resort of
both elegance and relaxed atmosphere - it is large enough to find quiet
seclusion and small enough to share with loved ones.

Accommodations:-
Velassaru is blessed with a range of luxury accommodation designed to
suit the demands of guests of good taste. All the rooms are deluxe
category or better with fantastic views of the beach and tropical
gardens.
 Deluxe Bungalow:-
Located in individual single-storey
buildings, close to the water’s edge with sitting area, garden bathroom
with bath and indoor shower.
 Beach Villa:-
Thatched cottage facing the beach, espresso
machine and an open-air bathroom with bath and shower.
 Water Suite:-
Overwater on stilts, spacious, facilities as
above, plus sitting area, canopy bed, indoor shower, bath overlooking
the sea, wine chiller and large balcony.
Water Villa:-
Overwater, with large balcony - some with pool

Meals/drinks All meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner taken in the main
restaurant daily. Tea, coffee and cake in the coffee shop, daily between
1500-1700hrs. Drinks taken from the all inclusive menu: beers, soft
drinks, mineral water by the glass, spirits (regular brands only), house
wine by the glass, selected cocktails (excluding champagne) taken in the
main bar from 0800-0100hrs only (Drinks as described are also available
for watersuite guests at the Sunset bar).
Watersports Watersports: snorkel equipment, canoeing, windsurfing
(without lessons from 0900-midday and 1400-1700hrs). One night fishing
excursion or snorkelling trip per person per stay.
Other NB: excludes porterage. No refunds for excursions or meals not
taken.

 Spa
Soothing hands and rejuvenating oils work their magic on a weary body
and soul at the spa exclusive to Velassaru guests. Full body
Aromatherapy or Ayurveda massages are available as well as beauty
treatments and a steam plunge pool. There is a steam room, free for
guests having a massage. Skin painting (Mahendi Decoration) is done by
an expert using traditional dyes
Scuba Diving
Velassaru Maldives has a fully equipped and professionally run private
diving base on the island. Established in 1990 the Dive Center Laguna
caters to both the novice and experienced diver. Operated to very high
standards by VIT (CMAS), SSI and PADI qualified instructors; we can
ensure that guests are given the opportunity to discover for themselves
the beauty of the underwater world
Whale sharks, turtles, morays, lobster, octopus and stingrays will be
your company as you discover the magnificent underwater world with us.
